The Warriors The Warriors were formed in 1981 out of the ashes of The Last Resort. Gigs were played in London at the 100 Club and Blue Coat Boy, and tracks were included on Oi! Oi! That's Yer Lot (Horrorshow) and UnitedSkins (Wicked Women). The band then called it a day... Line up for these gigs / tracks was Roi Pearce (vocals), Arthur 'Bilko' Kitchener (bass), Charlie Duggan (guitar) and John Fisher, known as Bushbaby (drums). In 1995 the group reform although only after a name change as Roi still owns the copyright to the name 'The Last Resort'. The name 'The Warriors' is used and the rest, as they say, is history. The band play gigs in Belgium, Cardiff, Canterbury and Herne Bay with support from The Pride, The Elite (not the rac band), Oppressed, Mighty Mr. Men and Gundog. Line up for this era is ex-Last Resort singer Graham Saxby (vocals), Bilko (bass), Daryl Smith (guitar) and Dustin Burgess (drums). This line up records albums The Full Monty and Noisy Bollox on Step 1, and appear on various compilations including Heroes and Villans and Trouble on the Terraces. A live video and EP from the Cardiff gig are also recorded. The band appear in various fanzines and skinzines at this time such as Running Down the Back Street, Bronco Bullfrog and Kontrol. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- September 1998 The band are offered top billing at Bouvais in France along with Oxymoron, Charge 69, Reazione, Gundog and others. However due to commitments with The Mistakes Daryl and Dustin cannot make the gig so James (Dutch) and Tariq (Taz) offer to play and after only one rehearsal they step in. October 1998 Bad Guys, a 7 track mini CD, is released on the bands own "Streetheart Records" label. Some of the tracks feature Bob Coltart and Steve Wyse of Arther Kay Originals, Cho-zen and Maroondogs fame. A 3 track single is released on the Italian label "Durango 95". The band play in Herne Bay with Gundog and Guttersnipe from Sweden. November 1998 Headline gig in Brixton along with Gundog and Scurry. December 1998 3 date tour of Japan playing in Osaka and Kyoto, Warriors headline with support from First Alert, LRF, Sandiest, Sideburns, Clashdogs, The Creed, Determinations and LA Skulls. A live compilation album is made of these gigs called The Ultimate Street Music Convention on RealDeal Records, Japan. April 1999 Gigs in Rotterdam with Gundog and Urban Soldiers; Hamburg with Gundog and a surprise 4 song set from Menace! Tour continues in Cotbus then Leipzig where they play with three other bands including Gundog and Slapshot from the USA. Over 1000 people turn up at what is to be a great gig. A live recording is made but this doesn't come out until more than 18 months later! The last gig of the tour is in Berlin - after a near riot involving a misunderstanding with 20,000 peace marching protesters the Warriors play a quiet gig to about 100 people. They give their all despite the small turn out and win over many new friends and fans. Single released on Walzwerk record label - The Last Resort / Sad Junkie Loser. July 1999 Warriors play their first Holidays in the Sun in Morecambe on Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm! Because of the Last Resort connection however loads of skins and punks drag themselves out of bed / the pub to cheer them on. The crowd warms to them and the scene is set for a great day of Oi! Other bands playing that day include The Business, Anti-Heroes, Murphys Law, Oxymoron, Special Duties, Peter and the Test Tube Babies and Dropkick Murphys. September 1999 Warriors play the second Punk Aid festival in Southend along with the likes of One Way System. The band goes down well at the gig. October 1999 The band play the Cardinals Cap in Canterbury, a brilliant punk, Oi! and ska pub, with the very funny Belinda Carbuncle. November 1999 Warriors play Holidays in the Smoke in Tufnell Park, London; they move 5 places up the billing! Others playing include Splodge, Major Accident and The Business. The Best of the Warriors is released on Step1, featuring 20 tracks from the two albums, the Bad Guys mini CD and live and rare recordings. February 2000 Warriors play the Cap in Canterbury again to a full house along with Belinda Carbuncle and Gundog. The new landlord asks them back straight away. The set lasts only 30 minutes but by the end the crowd are dancing, cheering and singing. Tim and Roy of Punk Aid are well impressed, especially as the band charge fuck all, not even so much as expenses, in the spirit of charity for kids. October 2000 New album due out - A Cross to Bear on the Harry May label; best album to date say critics. Delays to the launch continue into November and at the time of writing (6th Nov) the album is still on the expected soon list. ...14th November received confirmation - album definitely out by the end of the month! ...9th December the album is NOW OUT at last - get your copy from Streetheart via the merchandise page or visit http://homepage.ntlworld.com/oioioi/streetheart/index.htm November 2000 Warriors again play the Cap in Canterbury, this time the Accidents from Lancashire ask them to play. Arthur can't make it due to holiday so the barman quickly learns some Warriors songs and steps in on bass for a one off!! Asked and agree to play HIT Smoke at London's Tufnell Park Dome but in the end the organisors have to pull back and the band no longer appear, although Saxby puts in a surprise appearance to sing King Of The Jungle with Gundog. The Future 2001 A tour of the USA is being planned with the help of Mark from the Anti Heroes. The Warriors have already confirmed for Morecambe HITS : 6th - 8th July celebrating 25 years of Punk.
